Let’s get something straight right off the bat: I’m not a journalist. I have no insider sources, I’m not covering any teams, and I’m not breaking any news. I respect the work that real journalists do too much to pretend to be one. I’m just a sports fan with internet and a keyboard, writing strictly because I like it and it’s fun.

When I was growing up (and even still today), one of my favorite things in life was that 24-48 hour period after something amazing happened in sports. Maybe my team won a championship, maybe someone hit a buzzer-beater in a playoff game, maybe someone “defined their legacy” or “got over the hump” – you know what I’m talking about. THAT moment. Anyway, whenever THAT moment happened, I couldn’t wait to spend the next few days scouring the internet, newspapers, and magazines to read everyone’s takes. I wanted to read every angle of what we all just witnessed and re-live other people’s experiences in that period of excitement.

That’s what I hope you get from this website.

I grew up on the NBA, NFL, and College Football and I’ve been there for those moments ever since I was old enough to understand sports in 1996. I want to tell you stories of my own experiences in those moments both from the past and the moments to come.

My goal is that one day – when your team wins a championship or your favorite player breaks a record and you can’t wait to read what everyone has to say about it – that you’ll add The Step Back 3 to your rotation. Because I’ll be right there experiencing it with you, and I can’t wait to tell you how it made me feel.
